George Murray was born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina. After graduation from High School and marrying his HS sweetheart, he joined the United States Air Force. After serving his country for 4 years, he attended and graduated from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a degree in Economics in 1975. He later went back to Barton College and received his degree in Accounting. Drawing portraits as a hobby earned him the attention of promoters for a charity event with major celebrities from The Andy Griffith Show. His Mayberry Collection was premiered at these events in 1998 & 1999 in Kingsport, Tennessee where many of the actors from The Andy Griffith Show were performing. He is a contributing artist of Margaret Kerry's book, "Tinker Bell Talks" (tinkerbelltalks.com). He is also the Official Artist of The Branson Entertainment Hall of Fame, and the Official Artist of The Andy Griffith Show 50th Anniversary print.
